If I may be so bold/jinx the weather … I do believe it’s time for some SPRING CLEANING. After winter, I literally want to crawl out of my skin - if I can afford a microdermabrasion treatment, I go for it … at a bare minimum, I add one of these puppies to my regimen.
Here are my top 3 at-home cult refinishing scrubs:
1. Clinique Instant Facial ($36.50) - a strangely shimmery but extraordinary mask treatment | 2. Goldfaden Power Scrub ($95) - the gold standard for at-home deep exfoliation and my favorite “scrubby” type scrub ever | 3. Bliss Steep Clean Purifying Mask ($55) - not scrubby, but just as renewing … plus I use it daily in the summer to get that NYC air-grime out

Lavender Sparkle “Stick-On” Lips

I applied layer of pale lilac lipstick to the lips, and then used a flat shadow brush to press a lavender glitter all over the lips.
This is all nice and fun, but it’s probably not a good idea to go for dinner unless you want to swallow a lot of glitter. The lasting power, however, is really good, so if you need to make a statement for a few hours, this does not kiss off and requires pretty much no touch-up at all.
Tips for wearing glitter lips:
- Pick a lipstick that is close to the shade of the glitter for best effect
- Micro-glitter is easier to apply in an even layer and more comfortable to wear, but it will not be quite as dramatic and sparkly as larger flecks. The good news is that unlike the eye area, you can choose larger-sized art-store glitters for lips.
- If you pick a pale color, do apply a little flesh colored lip primer or concealer around the edges of the lips so you get an even tone there
Good Colors to try:
- Red on red
- Pink on Pink
- Black on Black
- Aqua on Aqua
Of course, you can also do this easily with Violent Lips, but I’m not sure about paying that amount of money for 3 sheets of temporary lip tattoos. (What if I make a mistake???)
